Had a lazy morning and then went for a bike ride around the town. We called in at the Information Centre then had a walk around the Botanical Gardens, which were well worth seeing. We then visited the James Cook Museum. The building that houses the Museum is a restored Sisters of Mercy Convent which was originally built in 1889. Part of the display is the original anchor and cannon and it was interesting reading Cook's diary extracts. Cook spent 48 days in the harbour here after the Endeavour was damaged on the reef.
