Day 61 June 13 2012 - Atherton

We are finally in Tropical Queensland - we arrived in Atherton mid morning today after a hair raising drive from Innot Springs.  We passed a few wide loads on the way - the first one we could not get off the road and Graham reckons there was six inches between us.  The next one had a gable roof overhanging our side of the road - this time we were able to stop at the side of the road.  Then we had lots of road works.  The drive was like driving through the Dandenongs but on narrower roads and at one point I even compared it to the Swiss Alps.  The scenery was beautiful very lush and green with lots of undulating hills.

We are staying at the Woodlands Tourist Park and it is really nice.  We are surrounded by Tropical Palms.  We had a drive out to Yungaburra after we had set up - we wanted to have a look at the caravan park there on Lake Tinaroo but we decided not to take the van down there.  We had lunch at the pub in Yungaburra - a lovely old pub.

When we got back to Atherton we caught up on grocery shopping - it was nice to have a bigger supermarket to get the groceries in.
