Short drive today to Barcaldine - took about and hour and a half. After we set up we went for a walk to the town but being Saturday everything closed at lunch time - except for the supermarket. We had a look at the Tree of Knowledge. The canopy around the tree is a gigantic cube made from recycled timber. It recreates the size of the canopy of the tree during the 1891 Great Shearers Strike, which led to the birth of the Australian Labour Party. It looks really good at night time when it is lit up.
This afternoon the Barcaldine show was on so we had a walk to the show ground with Lynn and Noel. We watched some of the horse jumping and waited round for the big trucks, They told us the trucks would be on at 5pm but when it got to 7pm we came back to the van had some dinner and then went back. The truck finally did its bit at 8-30pm and was followed by a firework display which was very good.
