Went for a drive into Cairns City today. We had a look at the Mud Market on The Esplanade there weren't a lot of stalls but it was a bit better than the market in Palm Cove. There was a Ukulele Festival on in the park, it was in its second day. We sat and listened to some of the music for an hour or so and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a guy from Thursday Island singing with a group and he changed the words to some popular songs to language of the Torres Straights. After dinner tonight we decided to go and have a look at the Night Markets with Betty and David, we should have know better. The last time we went it was all Asian stalls and massages, well it was just the same this time and if anything a bit worse. We did enjoy a walk along the Esplanade and around the Pier. The eating places, and believe you me there are hundreds of them, were all thronging, in fact the whole of the centre was packed with people. There was a great atmosphere. It was quite a mild night after once again a very overcast day.
I found out the name of the butterfly that we saw yesterday it was a Cairns Bird Wing and apparently is very common.
